Nine-hole courses are often considered the
poor relations to their full sized friends, but that's certainly
not the case here at Pennyhill Park in Surrey. The
course provides a unique opportunity to enjoy a round of golf on a
top quality layout that can be completed in about 60 minutes – it
has become popular with golfers who have hectic work schedules,
families learning together and those who want to keep their swings
working smoothly.

The Course
Whilst we are not quite sure how old our beautiful nine-hole
golf course is or indeed who the course architect was, we do know
that the very best Major-winning players in the world have played
the course including the late, great Seve Ballesteros and the
brilliant Vijay Singh. And the current crop of top professionals
can often be found on the Pennyhill links during the PGA
championships held just down the road at Wentworth, not to mention
the odd England rugby player here and there!
The golf course is a hybrid of wonderful
heathland and Surrey parkland which is typical of the A30 corridor
along which can be found our illustrious neighbours, Wentworth and
Sunningdale. This belt of land has rightly been recognised as prime
inland golf course terrain with fantastic draining qualities and
the associated flora and fauna to match. The nine short but testing
holes cut past some stunning ancient firs and the seasons are
represented beautifully through their ever changing deciduous
cousins.
Recent tree surgery complementing the golf
course and the trees’ health has also been well received by the
local wildlife around the course - roaming deer, pheasant, foxes
and a myriad of bird life as well as rare flora and fauna can be
found on and around the fairways.
The Stats
Playing off the men’s tees the course measures 1,910 yards and
off the ladies, it is 1,802 yards (nine-hole measurements)… but why
not have a second bite of the cherry and play nine all over again
to complete the traditional 18 before retiring to the Ascot Bar or
even The Spa!

The golf course is perfectly situated and
perfectly groomed to appeal to all types of golfers from an entire
family learning the game together without the pressure often
associated with long membership courses, for golfers having lessons
at a local driving range and looking for a challenging yet inviting
golf to practice approach shots and their short game or corporate
golfers looking for a five-star luxury venue to host their
corporate golf day or treat clients.
Course Improvements
We have recently embarked on an investment
project which has already seen new tee markers, tee yardage markers
and course information signs. The course has been re-measured using
the very latest technology and newly designed scorecards are now
available…
